Located in Washington, DC, this 4100sf Conference and Training Center for The Paralyzed Veterans of America’s headquarters was renovated and reconstructed by ULTRA’s Capital Construction Division, working closely with the building owner’s in-house design department and project architect. Based on this veteran’s service organization’s need for accessible design, ULTRA was able to bring their vision for a conference and training center to realty, inclusive of numerous specialty systems and elements.
The project included selected demolition, relocation of built-in display millwork cases, the construction of drywall partitions, and structural bulkheads. ULTRA also installed acoustical ceilings, sprinkler and fire alarm systems, electrical upgrades, and paint, carpet and VCT throughout. Key features of the center include modernfold operable and fixed glass partitions, motorized blinds and automatic doors and state-of-the-art-video conferencing. Key challenges for the project included an extremely tight deadline tied to a major grand opening and dedication event, and the need for close coordination with building management to accommodate core drilling above a busy delicatessin. ULTRA completed the work in seven weeks, far exceeding the owner’s expectations, and ULTRA Company officers were honored to attend the ribbon cutting on Veterans Day, 2014.
